Beyond the City 3 marked the final chapter of a creative journey initiated by the Féminin Pluriel collective in 2023. Hosted at the Mercedes-Benz Brand Center in Dubai Design District, the exhibition brought together artists celebrating feminine expression, cultural dialogue and contemporary creativity.
For this exhibition, I presented Rising Shams I & II, two photographic artworks inspired by the timeless beauty of Bab Al Shams, a peaceful oasis nestled in the Al Qudra desert. Fascinated by its warm light, earthy architecture and serene atmosphere, I sought not to document the place, but to translate the emotion of experiencing it.
My creative process begins in the field, where I photograph every detail that captures my attention. Back in the studio, I layer selected photographs, carefully adjusting their transparency, contrast and composition until a new visual language emerges. Each artwork is composed of seven photographs, transforming reality into a dreamlike interpretation that celebrates the dialogue between tradition and modernity.
To enhance the richness of the desert's golden palette, both pieces are printed on metal using dye-sublimation, adding depth, luminosity and subtle reflections that shift with the light.
With Rising Shams I & II, I invite viewers to experience Bab Al Shams not as a destination, but as a feeling.
