"I'm French, but the world is my home." This sentence reflects both my life and my artistic practice. Having lived across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Australia since childhood, movement has become part of my identity.
Created for a collective exhibition by Féminin Pluriel at the Alliance Française Dubai in 2024, alongside artist Bénédicte Gimonnet and poet Adel Khosam, Vivre Ailleurs I & II marked my first exploration of mixed media : a creative challenge that allowed me to express the many layers of expatriation.
Shipping containers, photographed in Sydney and printed on metal, symbolize departure, transition and the promise of new beginnings. Their industrial presence contrasts with folded, manipulated paper, evoking the vulnerability, resilience and excitement of adapting to new cultures. Birds and butterflies suggest freedom and transformation, while the MDF support and caution tape subtly reference the moving boxes that accompany every new chapter.
These works celebrate the richness of living between cultures while acknowledging the emotional complexity of constantly reinventing what we call home.
